Shelter Inc Painting - We are retextured and painted walls in two rooms at the Shelter Inc. facility in Pittsburg.  In a meeting room, one wall was converted into a white board to help facilitate meetings and in the other children’s play room one wall was prepared for them to draw a map of the world.  Shelter Inc. helps families and individuals who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless by assisting with rental costs and providing emergency and permanent housing.

Pear Harvesting - In the Fall we recruited community volunteers and pitched in as well to harvest pears in three orchards in Moraga.  The pears are then donated to the Food Bank of Contra Costa/Solano Counties.

Diapers For Infants For the last 6 years the Moraga Valley Kiwanis club has donated diapers to non profit social agencies serving families in need.  This project is led by Donations Chairman, Bob Reynolds, and staffed by many club members.  This year 7,500 diapers were delivered to the Monument Crisis Center, Shelter Inc., Contra Costa Interfaith Housing, Visiting Nurses and Bay Area Crisis Nursery.  These kinds of donations are funded by our club’s community fund raising efforts including our holiday See’s candy sales and springtime lobster fest dinner.

Used Book Sale - Working with members of Boy Scout Troop 246, we moved boxes of books into place and then assisted with both the set-up and close out for the semi-annual used book sale of the Friends of the Moraga Library.

Daffodil Planting - Ever wonder why each Spring as you drive along Moraga Road daffodils "spring" up?  Continuing a long-standing tradition, our Kiwanis team planted 1,600 daffodil bulbs alongside Moraga Road, north of the skate park, and 400 additional bulbs at the driveway entrance into the Hacienda off of Donald Drive.

Moraga Post Office Food Drive - We provided volunteers to assist the letter carriers with their annual food drive in support of the Food Bank.  As the letter carriers return from their routes, we assist them in unloading bags of groceries from generous Moraga residents, into bins which are picked up by the Food Bank.
